The Art Jen works quickly and with great intensity, preferring the combination of acrylics, enamels, and high relief to create the layers and texture her concepts demand. Her confident use of colour gives her work a sense of freedom and celebration. Her distinctive contemporary style is constantly evolving, emitting strength of energy, drama and life that few artists manage to capture. These elements are complimented by distinctive and original contemporary framing concepts devised by the artist, who considers them important elements of the total concept. Favoured media includes combinations of acrylics, enamels, shellac, hand made papers and high relief on canvas. The materials available in the 2-Dimensional arena, other than the traditional oil and acrylic, provided the catalyst to explore the unpredictable world of mixed media. Her multi-layering techniques encompass various media and materials to produce 3D effects. Jenny's paintings are vibrant works of art that engage our imagination and perspective on life. She makes extensive use of clear and smoked Perspex, stainless steel and copper strips, wire, turnbuckles and steel pins in the original framing concepts she uses to compliment her strong, contemporary style. Stretched wires, and stainless steel frames give her work the design finish to visually integrate 3D furniture, the environment and the finished hanging piece. The Artist 1994 was a turning point for Jenny, after teaching art at the secondary school level for 22 years, Jenny decided to “practice what she preached” and left the Education Department to pursue her artistic career. For the initial five years she worked in the events production industry. Jenny produced art shows, organised fashion shows and generally fine-tuned her skills in the arts related industries. During this period she picked up the brush and started to delve into her own work. Jenny Behm-Driutti signs her work Jen BD and has enjoyed steadily growing success.
